• Choose a position (taking the abdomen as an example): one hand of the patient make a fist to cover the belly button and place the palm of the other hand near the fist. Next, the injection site is within the width of the palm.

• Wipe the site with alcohol swab. Disinfect from the inside out around 5 cm diameter circle.

• Pinch up skin with 2 fingers. A hand held insulin flexpen, insert the needle into the skin which is showing 90 degree angle.

• Push plunger in by big thumb. Maintain the same position. Maintain the same position 10-15 seconds. Pull the needle out. Release the injection site with the other hand, and then press the injection site with alcohol cotton.

★Use needles of different lengths for injection: Whether you need to pinch the skin and the angle of injection will varies from person to person.

Put the needle into an empty can or bottle, close it tightly and put it back in the recycling bin next to the pharmacy on the first floor of the hospital.
