Administration & Dosage

PO,
Adult
Deficiency: 5-25 mg/d for 3 wks, followed by maintenance therapy with 1.5-2.5 mg/d a multivitamin preparation.
Drug-induced deficiency: 100 mg/d for 3 wks followed by 30 mg/d for maintenance.
Sideroblastic anemia: 200-600 mg/d.?????
Vit B6-dependent disorders: 10-250 mg/d.
Pediatric
Deficiency: 5-25 mg/d for 3 wks, followed by maintenance therapy with 1.5-2.5 mg/d a multivitamin preparation.
Vit B6-dependent disorders: 2 -200 mg/d
Contraindication
hypersensitivity to pyridoxine products.
Precaution
 
Adverse reaction
Folic acid deficiency; hypotonia or respiratory distress in infants; abdominal pain; N/V; loss of appetite; peripheral sensory neuropathy with prolonged use; photosensitivity; sedation
