Hypertension:
Adult, Initial 250 mg BID-TID; maintenance, 500-2000 mg/d in 2-4 divided doses. Max. 3 g/d.
Pediatric, Initial 10 mg/kg daily in 2-4 divided doses. Max. 65 mg/kg or 3000 mg/d, whichever is less. |

current MAOI therapy,
hypersensitivity to methyldopa,
liver disease (with or without previous association with methyldopa therapy). |

| M: Peripheral edema; drowsiness; dryness of mouth; headache
L or R: Drug fever; mental status changes; cholestasis; colitis; hemolytic anemia; reversible leucopenia; myocarditis; pancreatitis; SLE–like syndrome; thrombocytopenia; decreased sexual ability or interest in sex; diarrhea; hyperprolactinemia; N/V; orthostatic hypotension; paresthesias; sinus bradycardia; stuffy nose
