Antihistaminic:
Adult, initial 4 mg q8h, increased dose as needed, range is 4-20 mg/d. Max. 32 mg/d.
Pediatric,
2-6 yrs, 2 mg q8-12h. Max. 12 mg (30 ml)/d.
7-14 yrs, 2 mg q6-8h. Max. 16 mg (40 ml)/d. |

| Contraindication |
angle-closure glaucoma;
elderly(debilitated) patients;
hypersensitivity to cyproheptadine products; MAOI therapy;
newborn or premature infants;
nursing mothers;
stenosing peptic ulcer,
pyloroduodenal obstruction;
symptomatic prostatic hypertrophy, bladder neck obstruction. |

reaction |
M: Drowsiness; dry mouth.
L or R: Blurred vision; confusion; difficult or painful urination; dry nose or throate; tachycardia; photosensitivity; dizziness; increased sweating; anorexia (increased appeptite with cyproheptadine); weight gain (cytoheptadine only); ringing or buzzing in ears; nightmares; skin rash; unusual excitement, nervousness, restlessness or irritability. |
