Adult
Hypocalcemia (treatment) & electrolyte replenisher: IV, 970 mg (94.7 mg of calcium ion), at a rate< 5 ml (47.5 mg of calcium ion)/min. The dosage may be repeated, if necessary, until tetany is controlled.
Antihyperkalemic: 1-2 g (94.7-189 mg of calcium ion), at a rate< 5 ml (47.5 mg of calcium ion)/min. monitoring of ECG changes during administration.
Max. 15 g/d. (1.42 gram of calcium ion)
Pediatric
Hypocalcemia (treatment) & electrolyte replenisher:
200-500 mg (19.5 -48.8 mg of calcium ion) as a single dose. Rate< 5 ml/min (47.5 mg of calcium ion), repeated if necessary until tetany is controlled.
Exchange transfusions in newborns:
97 mg (9.5 mg of calcium ion) administered after every 100 ml of citrated blood exchanged. |
