In less urgent forms of metabolic acidosis or urinary alkalizer

& Dosage |
Systemic alkalizer in cardiac arrest: IV, initial 1 mEq/kg; 0.5 mEq/kg may be repeated every 10 mins of continued arrest.
In less urgent forms of metabolic acidosis or urinary alkalizer: IV infusion, 2-5 mEq/kg, administered over a period of 4-8 hrs. |

metabolic alkalosis;
respiratory alkalosis;
hypocalcemia;
hypochloremia alkalosis;hypertension, convulsion, or CHF when sodium use could be clinically detrimental.
