Adult
Anaphylaxis: IM, 0.3 mg (0.3 ml of a 1:1000 solution); may be repeated if severe anaphylaxis persists
Asthma: SC, 0.2-0.5 mg (0.2-0.5 ml of a 1:1000 solution) q2h as required; in severe attacks, may repeat dose every 20 min. Max. 3 doses
Cardiac arrest: IV, initial 1 mg, may be repeated as necessary every 3-5 min
Pediatric
Anaphylaxis: IM, 0.15-0.3 mg depending on body weight; 0.01 mg/kg may be appropriate for patients weighing< 30 kg
Asthma: SC, 0.01 ml/kg/dose (1:1000 solution). Max. 0.4-0.5 ml. May repeat every 15-20 min for 3-4 doses or every 4 hrs if needed
Cardiac arrest: IV, initial 0.01 mg/kg (0.1 ml/kg of a 1:10,000 solution); may be repeated every 3-5 min as needed. Endotracheal, initial 0.1 mg/kg (0.1 ml/kg of a 1:1000 solution), may repeat every 3-5 min

cardiac dilatation and coronary insufficiency ;
concurrent use with cyclopropane or halogenated hydrocarbon anesthetic; may sensitize the heart to the arrhythmic action of sympathomimetic drugs;
concurrent use with local anesthetics for injection of certain areas (eg; fingers, toes, ears); increased risk of vasoconstriction and sloughing of tissue;
for persons requiring emergency supportive therapy for an anaphylactic reaction, there are NO absolute contraindications for the use of epinephrine;
hypersensitivity to sympathomimetic amines;
in cases where vasopressor drugs may be contraindicated (eg; thyrotoxicosis, diabetes, in obstetrics when maternal blood pressure is in excess of 130/80 and in hypertension and other cardiovascular disorders); except as diluted for admixture with local anesthetics to reduce absorption and prolong action;
labor; may delay the second stage;
narrow-angle (congestive) glaucoma;
organic brain damage ;
