Adult
Anesthesia, general:
Induction, titrate to 1-2.5 mg/kg in 20-40 mg increments every 10 sec until induction onset.
maintenance, 50-200μg/kg/min or 20-50 mg IV bolus(only for 1% Propofol); dose varies for age and surgery type.
ICU sedation:5 μg/kg/min for 5 mins then titrate to 5-50 μg/kg/min in 5-10 μg/kg/min increments; allow minimal of 5 mins between dose adjustments.
Monitored anesthesia care (MAC) sedation: initial 100-150 μg/kg/min or 0.5 mg/kg slow IV over 3-5 mins followed immediately by maintenance infusion 25-75 μg/kg/min or 10 mg or 20 mg incremental IV bolus doses( for 1% Propofol only) .
Pediatric
Anesthesia:
Induction: 3-16 yrs, 2.5-3.5 mg/kg IV over 20-30 sec;
Maintenance: 2 mo-16 yr, 125-300 μg/kg/min.
