Message from the Chairman
Chimei Medical Center leads with medical excellence, championing lifestyle medicine at its core. Through five key wellness policies, we walk the path toward shared health—for our staff, our patients, and our community.
Following evidence-based medicine principles, Chimei Medical Center benchmarks against Singapore's successful 'National Steps Challenge' (NSC) - a nationally proven health policy backed by solid research. That's how we created our signature program: '7K a Day, 1K Walking the Wave' - turning employee wellness into a movement that actually works.
As a pioneer of lifestyle medicine in Taiwan, Chimei Medical Center promotes a new model of workplace wellness—advancing SDG 3 for Good Health and Well-being, SDG 8 for Decent Work and Economic Growth, and SDG 4 through medical expertise that empowers lifelong health education.
Over the past 35 years, under the leadership of Founder Hsu and former chairman Liao, Chi Mei Hospital has grown from a single facility into the largest healthcare system in the Yunlin–Chiayi–Tainan region, with 10 healthcare institutions serving the community. This journey—from our origins as Feng Chia Hospital to becoming a medical center and a medical foundation—has been driven by a deep commitment to quality care and public health. The dedication and hard work of our teams have been a great source of pride for both our late founder, Mr. Hsu, and our late former chairman, Mr. Liao.
Since stepping into the role of chairman, I’ve been focused on continuing Chi Mei’s legacy of compassion and social responsibility. Our well-known “culture of happiness.” isn’t just a slogan — it stems from shared goals and teamwork across the organization. We believe that when our employees feel fully supported in their professional roles and their well-being is truly valued, they’re able to provide the best possible healthcare to the public.
Looking ahead, we’re shaping the future of Chi Mei healthcare system with key projects such as the construction of Chi Mei Hospital at the Southern Taiwan Science Park and our Sixth Medical Building. Yet we also face challenges, including significant financial investment, a shortage of healthcare professionals, and rising operational costs. I am confident that, together, we can face these challenges head-on and continue moving toward sustainable growth. Thank you to all of our teams for your hard work, passion, and unwavering commitment.
