Indications
 Diuretic; Antihypertensive; Hypertensive crisis in patients with normal renal function; Hypertensive crisis accompanied by pulmonary edema or ARF
Administration & Dosage

Adult
Diuretic:
PO, initial 20-80 mg/dose, the dosage then being increased by an additional 20-40 mg at 6-8 hrs intervals, until the desired response is obtained, Max. 600 mg/d.

Antihypertensive: PO, initial 40 mg BID.

Pediatric
Diuretic:
PO, initial 2 mg/kg/dose, the dosage then being increased by an additional 1-2 mg/ kg at 6-8 hrs intervals, until the desired response is obtained.

Contraindication

hypersensitivity to furosemide or sulfonamides;anuria.
Precaution
 
Adverse reaction
 Anorexia; GI disturbances ; N/V ; blurred vision; dizziness; headache; parathesias; electrolyte imbalance; hyperglycemia; hyperuricemia; muscle spasms; weakness; photosensitivity; skin reactions; SJS; anemia; leucopenia; thrombocytopenia; hypotension; pancreatitis
