Features of Quality Care
Emergency Medicine
Since 1992, the full-time emergency medicine physicians have been providing efficient and rapid care in the emergency department (ED). At present, the ED has nearly 60 full-time physicians and residents treating over 300 emergency patients per day and delivering high-quality urgent care to the residents in southern Taiwan. Since 2001, the ED has emerged digital and mobile technologies that accelerate process transformation and quality improvement; many patients with acute myocardial infarction, acute ischemic stroke and multiple trauma have benifited from timely and accurate treatment at CMMC.
The ED is committed to innovation in acute and critical care. Percutaneous cardiopulmonary support (PCPS) is available for patients with critical cardiogenic shock. It provides a holistic care approach to emergency patients waiting for admission; palliative care services are offered to optimize the end of life journey. Geriatric care in the ED improves the underlying disease and avoids concurrent use of multiple medications in elderly patients. The CMMC ED has won the Symbol of National Quality (SNQ) Award for its outstanding services.
