The full-service Yongkang Emergency Department, opened in 1992 with physicians staffed 24 hours a day, has pioneered the emergency care in Taiwan and become a comprehensive and integrated emergency and critical care operation in 1996.
Chi Mei Hospital is the largest critical care service in the Yunlin-Chiayi-Tainan area, with more than 100 intensive care beds. The safe, reliable, and quality critical care is provided by a multidisciplinary team of highly experienced professionals.
Chi Mei Hospital began performing transplants in 1999. In addition to kidney, liver, heart, corneal and bone marrow transplants, we are also able to perform multi-organ transplants of heart, liver, kidney and cornea.
Chi Mei Hospital remains one of the 6 most stable hospitals, recognized by the National Health Insurance Bureau, for providing high quality transplantation services. It has performed 191 kidney transplants, with a 5-year survival rate of more than 90%, 84 liver and 32 heart transplants over the past two decades. The Memorial Wall is a “wall of names”. It is located at the Medical Building III to pay tribute to organ donors. The bronze statue Angel was hand carved by Founder Hsu to show appreciation for organ donors. The Stroke Center was established in 2008 providing comprehensive care and treatment for the stroke patients.
The CyberKnife Center has the most current CyberKnife technology and the newest generation of the CyberKnife system in Taiwan. It delivers the most precise radiation therapy for patients with cancers. We have equipped our facility with the most current non-invasive imaging technology available, including real-time 3-dimensional echocardiography, 3T MRI, StealthStation Treon guidance system, the third generation da Vinci Surgical system, and the new TomoTherapy system. The 3T MRI is the most advanced MRI scanner available today for clinical use and research purposes, providing greater clarity and more accurate diagnosis. The Tomo Therapy system, a new type of radiation therapy delivery system, provides highly accurate and effective treatment. The da Vinci Robotic Surgery System enables surgeons to perform complex surgical procedures through small incisions, such as Nephrectomy and surgeries for prostate cancer, uterine cancer, gastric cancer, heart and lung problems . Chi Mei Hospital takes pride in advancing the surgical treatment of diseases by becoming the first hospital in Southern Taiwan to acquire this cutting-edge robotic system. In order to help the economically underprivileged, Founder Hsu donated and established the “High-Tech Medical Care Fund”, allowing more patients to receive high-tech medical care we strive to provide.
Tainan has the second largest elderly population in the nation. Chi Mei Hospital has been engaging in diverse home care/long-term care and disease awareness programs to benefit the community at large.Chi Mei Hospital is committed to providing quality health care to the communities. We have a state-of-the-art mobile mammography van equipped with the most advanced digital mammography system to provide breast screening services. The mobile unit for pap smears, donated by Chairman Song of Chi Lin Technology, enables us to reach out to underserved areas without having to travel long distances for them to seek medical services.
Expansion and renovation of the Health Management Center, which began operation in 1990, were completed in 2009 to provide state-of-the-art facilities and a wide range of professional services.
The “Chi Grace” hospice provides quality end of life care to individuals facing life-limiting illnesses.
